Founders "Why" Origin Story

Our Founder Brandon moved to Chicago 2.5 years ago. A few of his friends moved there prior to him and made friends that had pretty much grown up there or been there for many years. He is very much a foodie and loves to try new things. He grew up in rural Missouri so there weren’t many options out there and when he went off to college and then to St. Louis for work, he didn’t even know what he liked or didn’t like. One of the things he looked forward to the most, especially when the cold winters keep people indoors, was to try ALL of the food. He would try to arrange going out around once a week, usually on Fridays. He would always start with a text conversation of “Let’s go grab dinner tonight!” in a group chat. This would go on for a few hours while people were at work or busy doing other things. And it would always boil down to it being the time of dinner, no decision made, a lot of back and forth on I don’t like this or that, and ultimately we wind back up at one of the same 5 places we always go to.
He wanted to change that. There are thousands of places in Chicago to try, really good places, as well as a lot of new or hole-in-the-wall places that deserve a fighting chance. So that’s why he created then what was plan’r. For an app to “plan” out their meal, giving them some variety in their eating habits but also giving people the option to vote on their staple places if they truly were craving that.
